"Dan worked for me, as a Senior Program Manager, when I was VP of Customer Service and Support for Marconi, a large telecommunications equipment manufacturer. Dan was responsible for working with Services, other Marconi departments and our largest commercial customer during the sales and evaluation phase of switching equipment for a new telecommunications, voice and data, network core. Marconi’s hardware offering was the company’s newest and largest (ASP ~$1.5M) telecommunications switch. During this process, Dan was responsible for coordinating the activities of the Service department (customer support, on site field service, parts depots, return and repair) with other departments in Marconi and with a number of groups within the customer. This was a very demanding customer. In one meeting the VP of Operations told me that our system was allowed three minutes/year of downtime and they would tell us which three minutes. Dan did a herculean job of keeping this customer satisfied. At the completion of that project, Dan became the lead in a project with the transit authority of a very large city. This project used a Marconi based system for communications and train control. Dan moved this project through a long and involved certification process. In all projects, Dan interfaced with groups internal to Marconi and with the customer. When a project was assigned to Dan, I had little doubt that it would be managed very well and that there would be no surprises. More importantly, I knew the customer would be well served and that my phone would not ring in the middle of the night. I would not hesitate to bring Dan onto one of my teams."
